LOREM IPSUM DOLOR SIT AMET

Testosterone is a hormone. It’s what puts hair on a man’s chest. It’s the force behind his sex drive. During puberty, testosterone helps build a man’s muscles, deepens his voice, and boosts the size of his penis and testes. In adulthood, it keeps a man’s muscles and bones strong and maintains his interest in sex.  In short, it’s what makes a man a man (at least physically). After age 30, most men begin to experience a gradual decline in testosterone. A decrease in sex drive sometimes accompanies the drop in testosterone, leading many men to mistakenly believe that their loss of interest in sex is simply due to getting older. “Some say it’s just a part of aging, but that’s a misconception,” says Dr. Eddie Richardson Jr., MD of RYSE Wellness. A gradual decline in testosterone can’t explain a near-total lack of interest in sex, for example. For Dr. Richardson’s patients who are in their 30s, 40s, and early 50s and having erectile problems, he says the cause goes deeper then simple aging. According to the US Census Bureau, approximately 4-5 million men have symptoms of low testosterone levels and only 5-10% of these men will seek treatment. Low Testosterone level is a condition known as Andropause. The most common symptoms of Andropause are of decreased sexual performance, decreased mental focus, mood swings, and or low energy levels.

WHAT IS “LOW T”

Just as women experience alterations in their hormones in their 30s and 40s, men may undergo similar changes.  It’s been dubbed Andropause.  Like menopause for women, its onset can cause many guys to “lose sex drive, suffer from weak or infrequent erections, and can decrease performance at work and in the gym,” says Dr. Eddie Richardson of RYSE Wellness.Every guy out there is trying to get the edge, whether it’s at work, in the gym or at home.  But sometimes it’s beyond our control. “Typically I see attorneys, CEOs and finance guys that are hard-charging, Type-A personalities who want to keep their edge,” explains Dr. Richardson. “They’re fit and health-conscious, but, or course, as you age, you may need help to stay that way.”

HOW IS ANDROPAUSE / “LOW T” TREATED?

Most men are familiar with the commonly prescribed Viagra, Levitra, or Cialis. These treatments are often quick fixes and do not address the root cause of the issue. More importantly, these drugs do not treat the other symptoms of Andropause including weight gain, loss of muscle mass, low energy, decreased sexual desire and lack of mental focus. To effectively treat Andropause, low testosterone levels need to be replenished. Testosterone is available in cream / gel, injections and pellet forms.

While hormone replacement therapy (HRT) isn’t brand new, the means by which you get testosterone is going in new directions.  RYSE Wellness offers two forms of TRT: weekly Testosterone injections or bio-identical Testosterone pellets, which are, in effect, time released and completely identical to what the human body naturally produces. “The main benefits with the pellets are less commitment on the patients’ end, meaning they don’t have to do a lot to maintain the therapy and fewer side effects versus Testosterone Creams / Gels,” says James Chambers, PA of RYSE Wellness.

The objective is to optimize deficient testosterone levels to the high end of the normal range, which can be anywhere from 300-1000 nanograms per deciliter. When this process is managed appropriately, the results for the patient can be incredible. “One of my clients–he’s around 55 and a top executive with an IT business–was always an athlete, but his weight had ballooned recently and he had a full blown spare tire. He was depressed and his testosterone count was in the high 200s,” Chambers recounts. “We put him on a four-month nutrition plan with Testosterone and his body fat dropped from 31 percent to 10 percent, and his energy level went through the roof.” Patients usually see positive changes within four to six weeks of initiating therapy; however all patients respond differently.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Clients schedule an appointment online or via phone to meet with a RYSE Medical Provider. At the consultation, the provider will discuss client symptoms, review medical history, and perform a physical examination. Typically, baseline labs are drawn or previous lab results are reviewed. A follow up visit is scheduled to review labs and develop a tailored treatment plan. If a client’s lab results reveal a low testosterone level, a treatment plan including testosterone replacement therapy tailored specifically for that client is developed. If testosterone levels are not the issue, a tailored treatment plan is developed to treat and address the client’s specific issues. Clients are followed up at appropriate intervals to ensure success. TOP 3 QUESTIONS ABOUT TRT:

Do you have to do testosterone replacement more than once? For most people, HRT including testosterone replacement is a permanent therapy; it is not a cure.

Are there negative side effects? As with many medicines, testosterone replacement therapy is not without side effects.  Common side effects include: acne, exacerbation of male-pattern balding, irritability, benign swelling of the prostate, decreases in sperm count and water retention-bloating. Most side effects can be easily managed with appropriate medical supervision.

Are there patients who are not good candidates for testosterone replacement therapy? Patients with known heart disease, history of prostate cancer, or uncontrolled high blood pressure are high risk and not appropriate candidates. In some cases, patients with these conditions can be treated and then medical cleared to proceed with testosterone replacement therapy.

Did You Know?

*Aromatization is a process of converting Free Testosterone in men to Estrogen which can hinder the use of Testosterone and worsen Low Testosterone symptoms. At RYSE, we closely follow patients labs to screen for elevated estrogen levels and prescribe medications that can block this process if needed.

*Proper Lab Monitoring and use of Anastrozole, an Estrogen blocker, is a vital treatment in Low Testosterone Therapy. At RYSE, we recommend checking hemoglobin, hematocrit, red blood cell count, PSA, Total Testosterone and Estradiol levels every 3-4 months to follow progress and screen for potential side effects.

*Treatment of Metabolic Syndrome can often help to effectively restore Testosterone levels.

*HCG Hormone analog is a vital part of Low Testosterone Replacement Therapy. HCG stimulates the testes to produce testosterone and is used primarily to avoid testicular shrinkage and boost sex drive. Because HCG is a vital part of any TRT therapy, it is included in RYSE’s TRT program. Other programs fail to provide HCG or change additional fees for the HCG.
